Abstract
In creating a shaker table that is at the forefront of the market, 7PM Designs knew that their design had to be as simple as possible for ease of manufacturing and assembly while providing users with optimal performance in achieving desired patterns. Having a shaker table constructed with as few parts as possible and with easily recognizable patterns of movement ensures that the customer is receiving a top-of-the-line product. With the market currently being flooded with varying designs, all trying to achieve the same results, 7PM Designs’ shaker table has several beneficial features that help it stand out from the rest. The actuation system is made of two motors and three sliding rails to provide stable 2-D motion in the 3 shaking patterns at a variety of speeds. Hall effect sensors are incorporated along with magnets to achieve precise homing of the motors before every shaking iteration. Microscope slide clips were included on the top plate to keep the well plates and conical tube racks in place while still allowing the user to switch them out easily. Future ODFI integration was also considered through a double layer plate design in which the top plate houses the well plates and tube racks, and the bottom plate houses the ODFI. This shaker table’s design is finished off with a very intuitive user interface that allows selection of shaking pattern and speed with an LCD for display.
